Norma

Lovera

Norma Lovera "Seeing through the colors and the light that is reflected makes emotions bloom, turning the everyday into a unique and special moment".

Norma Lovera was born in Mexico City and since she was a child she was attracted by the glitter and the translucent. As a collector and passionate lover of arts in general and crafts from anywhere in the world, it was only natural for her to become an artist. After studying Art History, Restoration and Design as careers, her interest leaned towards glass and ceramics, techniques in which she has worked for more than 20 years.

Her work is an industrious and intrinsic playing of pieces, a puzzle that flows with movements and rhythms, mixing ambers, blues, reds, greens and transparencies in surrounding shapes that distort reality to make it more fun. A contemplative work that encourages good humor. Always looking for surfaces and new ways to integrate glass, she has intervened furniture; created stained glass windows for churches and buildings; created practical and common use objects such as mirrors, trays, pots and vessels; vitromosaic platters that stand out in color. She has recently specialized in glass mosaic and glass fusing techniques creating three-dimensional glass paintings designed to play with the light of spaces.

Free of prejudice, Norma sees in glass a world separate from reality. A joyful space made of bits of colors that allows the viewers to find their own figures. In her art she seeks to highlight beauty every day: that things are beautiful, have colors and attract joy to the places where they are. Her stained-glass windows have been acquired by churches and architects throughout Mexico, and her works of art are in collections in Mexico, USA, Canada and Chile, being exhibited in museums, festivals and galleries including the Leonardo Da Vinci International Art Festival, the Museo Franz Mayer (Franz Mayer Museum) and the Museo José Luis Cuevas (José Luis Cuevas Museum).
